Ex Basildon United players that have come into the news lately include Steve Tilson, manager of the successful Southend United team that have gained back to back promotions to start next season in the Championship.
Also Michael Kightly now with Conference League Club Grays Athletic, was the man of the match in their recent FA Trophy Final, victory over Woking.
It's great to hear local people doing well and bringing success to the area. Well done and Congratulations to you both and to your clubs.

The club is pleased to annouch the arrival of a top local coach to manage the Essex Senior League team and to oversee the coaching of the teams.
John Higley is an experienced manager at this level with a proven track record. He was with Ilford and in their promotion year. He helped make Burnham Ramblers a top 3 club and he steered London APSA from being a club that struggled in the league, to being a well respected team that are difficult to beat.
John has also been a top scout, taking several young players to professional clubs, starting them out in their careers.
He is a highly qualified coach, having obtained the FA level 3 - UEFA 'B' Certificate. Last year he coached the Essex FA Representative side.
His knowledge and expertise will enable players and coaches to improve their talents and skills, also for those players who may have a special talent, they will be spotted earlier, developed quicker and if they so wish, to be introduced to professional clubs for further coaching and trials.
John gives the club the ability to allow all the players the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge of the game and to reach their full potential.
